Coach Jamie and Coach Brian started to create the academy program last summer and have had many successful sessions performing it with our athletes. The first session took place in June 2011. It was open to all age groups and we had a registration number of around 12 kids. Once those weekly sessions were completed in August, we started to get things organized for our fall sessions which took place in Holy Trinity Elementary School gymnasium. Our numbers increased and we were able to break the age groups into 3 age categories, 4-6yr olds, 7-10yr olds, and 11yr old+. Our 4-6yr old age group had 12 athletes registered. Our 7-10yr old age group had 15 athletes and our 11yr old+ age group had 5 athletes. This session concluded in December and the winter session started in January. For our Winter session, we were able to fill up our 4-6yr old age group with 20 athletes, 7-10yr old age group had 20 athletes and our 11yr old+ age group had grown to 18 athletes. The academy has registered a couple of teams who have competed in tournaments, losing in the semi finals in one tournament and winning the second tournament in Michigan. The growth and development that the instructors have seen so far makes them confident that this program will develop the best soccer players in this region for years to come.
